Bridgeport
Hospital Bed Funds
Many
years ago, bequests were made by or in the name of Charles
Ferry, Mary Nichols
Ferry, and Oliver Gould
Jennings for the benefit
of
members of St. Paul’s Church or other residents of Fairfield
who received care at Bridgeport Hospital. These bequests established “bed
funds” that have appreciated considerably over the ensuing
years.
These
funds are still available through the Rector and/or Wardens for
any parishioner or any Fairfield resident who may have to struggle
to pay part or all of expenses incurred as a patient at Bridgeport
Hospital. By terms of the original bequests, however, and because
the funds are actually held in trust by Bridgeport Hospital,
they are not available for expenses incurred at other hospitals
or for other medical purposes.
Please
keep these Bed Funds in mind if you hear of needs that may arise
within your household or family, or within the larger network
of your family and friends here in Fairfield. And please bring
needs to the attention of the Rector, the Associate Rector, or
the Wardens—all of whom will be happy to answer questions
you may have.
