Getting Involved

Past and Future Visions for St. Paul ’s
On Saturday, November 20 th, the Vestry met with a consultant, the Rev. Canon Richard Tombaugh, to review the mutual ministry of the Vestry, Rector, clergy, staff, and parish, over the past five years.

We looked especially at ideas developed from our annual Vision Events and spent some time discussing what we learned from these efforts, and where God might be leading us next in our journey together. We pondered some year-long and multi-year priorities, most of them focusing on developing our life together as a Christian community. Look for a chance to discuss these ideas and to generate others when our next Vision Event comes along in the late spring.

Supporting The Ministry of St. Paul’s Church, Fairfield

The mission or purpose of all churches “is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.” This is how our Book of Common Prayer (p. 855) defines the exalted and vital point of our existence as a parish.

This is what St. Paul, our patron Saint, calls the “ministry of reconciliation” in his Second Letter to the Corinthians (5: 17-20). This ministry of reconciliation is made possible in two ways at St. Paul’s. Both ways are vitally important:

Through the donation of money or other gifts that support parish worship, teaching, and volunteer service in and beyond the parish. (Please go to Donating to St. Paul's for more information about how money is translated into ministry.)

• Through volunteer efforts, as people give their time, energy, and skill to support and carry out the parish’s extensive range of worship, teaching, and community service.

Examples include
people who teach in the Church School on Sunday mornings, or tend children in the nursery;
• young people and adults who sing in the choir or assist in worship services as ushers, acolytes, or prepare the altar for worship;
• people who prepare and serve meals for the hungry at our sister parish in Bridgeport, St. Luke’s/St. Paul’s.Stewardship is Many Ministries. . .

A listing of these ministries of service follows. Do get involved, you'll be glad you did!

Blessings to you as you consider this step in Christian faith and growth.

We look forward to talking with you in person about it.
The Mary Anne Osborn, Associate Rector
The Rev. Bennett Brockman, Rector
