Every Member Canvass
The canvass to ascertain your 2015 financial pledge will continue until In-Gathering Sunday on November 9th. This year, we seek a renewed sense of what it is to be whole, to “Live Wholly” personally and as a community of faith. You are a key part of St. Paul’s and as such we need everyone to fully participate and generously support our life, together, in Christ. “Living Wholly” is only achieved when everyone is “all in!” Extra copies of the EMC brochure are available at St. Paul’s Central.
Community Supper: Tuesday, October 28th
Baked chicken time again! Please bake at least a dozen thighs and/or legs seasoned with S & P only. Bring to St. Paul’s kitchen by noon on Tuesday, October 28th. If you are free to serve, meet at St. Paul’s by 3:30 pm and carpool to Bridgeport to serve the meal, returning by 7:00 pm. Contact Anne Kehoe: email@example.com.
Save the Date for "Requiems & Remembrances"
On November 2nd at 5:00 pm, the St. Paul’s Choir will perform Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem in concert with organist Joseph Ripka. In addition to the Requiem, the program includes music of Edgar Bainton, Tomas Luis de Victoria, and Peter Stoltzfus Berton. A reception will follow the concert. Admission is by ticket ($15), available for purchase online or in the church’s parish office during business hours. Proceeds benefit the choir’s 2016 tour of England. If you would like to purchase an "in memory of" or business ad to include in our program, please click here to print a copy of the form. You may drop off completed form in the parish office.
Usher & Greeter Training
Wednesday, November 5th, 7:00 pm: All greeters and ushers are asked to attend "refresher" trainings to be current on the protocol now in place so that we can all be consistent. Ushers will meet in the sanctuary and greeters will meet in the Fireside Room. The groups will then convene together in church to practice coordination of their roles, and afterwards, we will go to Archie Moore’s for snacks and libations. New ushers are welcome! It is not a hard job and a cheat sheet is always posted. For more information or to volunteer, contact head usher Lucy Buggy at 203-581-9119 or LKBuggy6@gmail.com. Ushers are needed for both the 8:00 and 9:30 am services.
Thanksgiving Senior Luncheon
Wednesday, November 12th, 11:00 am-1:30 pm: Join us for a Pre-Thanksgiving Feast! We will begin with a service of Holy Eucharist in the church, followed by lunch at noon in the Parish Hall. Enjoy fellowship, food and learn about what it means to be a member at St. Paul’s. Please reserve a spot by calling the office or signing up at St. Paul’s Central.
St John's Pantry Food Drive
Eighty families show up each week at our partner St John’s Food Pantry and there is literally no food there. Community Partnerships is kicking off a six-week Food Drive leading up to Thanksgiving. Let’s fill those empty shelves! Please bring a bag of groceries to church each week until Thanksgiving. Contributions are also welcome (payable to St. Paul’s with “Food” in the memo line) so we can make a special gift to them this season.
Kids of all sizes need your castoff coats and winter wear. Please launder children's jackets when possible. Our adopted social worker has requests for a 17 year old girl who needs gently used apparel in size XL tops and 16-18 pants, as well as men’s clothing, especially jeans. Contact Linda Shackleton.
